Choose Joy

Some days you just feel defeated.  You fight with your insurance company all day about ridiculous things, have to send them a copy of your passport to prove you are a U.S. citizen to not lose your coverage, your husband has a cast that needs to be removed and they want a referral for cast removal....its just frustrating.  Honestly I'm so over it and broke down in tears yesterday.  It was actually a great release of emotion and it happens sometimes.  Then you come home to relax and are faced with some harsh realities of this world.  There are devastating things happening all over the place and my personal struggle of insurance woes seems small when compared to the rest.  Then your heart just breaks for the hurting and the lost.

Things don't always make sense and things are always changing (lots of times it feels like for the worse) but we do know One who never changes (Hebrews 13:8).  Yesterday God reminded me of many truths.  Sometimes you feel defeated, but He says to not give up (Galatians 6:9), He says to keep going forward (Hebrews 12:1), to be strong and have faith (Hebrews 10:39), to remember He has overcome the world (John 16:33) and to choose Joy (Philippians 4:4).

None of this really has anything to do with what I'm wearing, ha!  But I do think as christians we have the tendency to want to appear like we are totally put together all of the time.  Like we don't have issues or break downs.  I think we are doing it wrong when we do it that way.  We are all human and have moments, issues, things that we are dealing with.  We need to be real with each other and show encouragement and understanding.  Younger christians need to see other christians struggle well so they will know how awesome God is in the trials.  They need to learn to turn to Jesus and trust in his truth and word.   To praise Him in all circumstances.

So the feeling was real for me yesterday.  It stunk.  I do not have everything put together and I lose it sometimes.  But today is a new day, God's mercies are made new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23) and I'm choosing Joy.  Maybe someone needed to be encouraged and reminded of that today.  Praying for you to know that truth.

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Proverbs 30:5
