Thanksgiving Thoughts

Ok, I think I'm going to give starting the blog back up another go.  Its something I love and I really miss.  Just like anything, once you get out of doing something for a while its really hard to get back into the groove again.  The last time it ended for me I got overwhelmed.  And it really bothered me that I became overwhelmed, especially with something like a blog.  It began as an outlet for me and I think it began turning into something I needed to be perfect.  I am not perfect and neither will this blog be.  So for me this time, this place is just imperfect and I'm ok with that.  It has to be authentic, whether its making a craft, working on the house, sharing what is on my heart or part of my family....its relaxed, real, imperfect and just a small part of me.

So here are just a few of the moments I have been thankful for over the past several months....

This kid loves a pile of leaves...but what kid doesn't?

Exploring the many great museums in downtown for Silas' birthday.

Silas loved the state fair this year, if you know him you know that him passing out like that is evident of a good time.

Mario - this may be my favorite photo of all time.

Our little Silas turned 3 in October, do we favor at all?  Just kidding, he looks like my twin in this photo.  His one birthday request was doughnuts, and also presents.  Luckily we just so happen to live  close to the original Krispy Kreme - we had many doughnuts that week.

I love my family so much and its something I'm truly thankful for every day of the year.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Thanks for visiting today!

Bloglovin' and a Few Blog Thoughts

So now that the smoke it starting to clear about the whole Google Reader being dropped thing - I have gotten with it and made a profile on bloglovin'.  If you previously used Google Reader, bloglovin' makes it super easy to import all of the blogs you follow.  Seriously, it was just a click of a button.

I feel like this week has been a huge learning experience for me when it comes to blogging.  I'm talking about the back-side of blogging, not the pretty pictures and fun project side.  The part where you have freak outs and meltdowns when you are trying to replace html in your code. Or, the part where you learn that you had no clue how the comments section worked on your blog and you feel like an idiot when you realize what you have been doing wrong.  Yeah, that was me this week.

I'm kind of thinking about doing a basic blogging series soon.  I feel like I have finally "gotten" some things this week after feeling in the dark and blindly doing the blog stuff for a while now.  I am at no means an expert but when you learn something I feel like you should share.  So if you are like me and feel like a newbie blogger, are wondering why everyone seems like an expert blogger but you or just need the comfort in knowing that you are not the only one who hasn't got a clue - then come follow me!  We will work through this blogging thing together.

If you ever have a blogging question, please just ask me!  I may not be able to answer it - but I might and I would love to help if I could.  I have learned a lot from other bloggers and I am so thankful for their willingness to share and help me through.  I love the blogging community and I would love for this blog to just be an extension of that.

Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!

Behind the Blog: Clutter Confessions

Confession time - we are not that organized, shocking I know.  Some areas of our life are definitely more organized than others but, when it comes to small spaces in our home - it can be a struggle.   Its something that is actually starting to drive me crazy and something I haven't really wanted to tackle...until now.  There has to be some better solutions for the clutter chaos we have going on - especially in places like drawers and cabinets.  Plus, its the beginning of the year - the perfect time to begin a big clean-out and organization of sorts, I'm know I'm ready for it.  So whose with me?!

But first you would probably like to see our disaster.  For us, its really the small spaces that have gone awry (and maybe Silas' room, shhh don't tell).  So be prepared - these are not pretty shots.  This is real life people.  Up first, our pretty secretary desk...isn't it nice?

But if we peek inside, we will see a different story...

Whoops - chaos abounds.  This is one of those areas that I don't think I have even looked in or used in several months because I know its a total disaster and I don't even want to try.  So here it has sat all neglected and over stuffed.  I have no idea what is even in this thing.  The only thing this desk has been used for recently is for stuffing stuff in that we didn't know where else to put.  Well things will be a changing soon little desk.

Whose up for some crazy drawer photos?  All of you? Great!...below is our kitchen junk drawer.  Every house has to have one right?  We have like 50 (not really, but really).

Below is our beside drawers.  Justin's and Mine respectively.  Can't really tell a difference here - we are both good at this.

Next up is some crazy shelf organizing  clutter.  This cabinet is in our main bathroom and its another place that I haven't really done anything with since we moved in except for to shove stuff in.  Mysteries abound in there.

In the back of the house we have some shelves.  I have tried to slowly work on getting this spot organized.  Its not too bad (compared to the rest) but it still needs a ton of work.  I just don't think this space is being utilized correctly so I have some changes in mind.

I also have a little idea for hiding this hot water heater - updates to come.

So, if you are wondering - I have begun my quest!  Woohoo.  I must add, I'm not trying to achieve perfection here.  I know our home is lived in and a perfectly clutter free home is kind of ridiculous to assume.  I would just like to achieve better function - and also to not avoid some spots in our house because they are in chaos.  If I can get some systems working then I think we can maintain a decent level of controlled chaos...hopefully.

Oh, if any of you are journeying on similar quests I must tell you that Michael's is currently running a sale on all of their organization systems - which includes all bins, baskets and boxes!  I picked up some the other day - all buy one, get one free!  That's like a jackpot in the organization world.  Boxes ain't cheap friends.

Whew, well nothing like sharing your mess with the whole world to light a fire under your behind.  It feels quite good to let it all out.  This blog just got real.  And now I'm loosing my mind.  So anyone else have an itch to take back over your desks, drawers, shelves and cabinets?  Or maybe just one of those things since we seem to be living in clutter chaos over here!  Who else has the organization bug?  Share with me!

Happy Thursday!
