Baby Room to Big Boy Room Transition

Something has happened recently, Silas moved up in the world and moved into a real big boy bed.  It's been a pretty good transition so far and he absolutely loves it.  The big switch also brought about a little bit of a room shift.  We ended up deciding to switch over the spare room into more of a playroom for him, giving him some much needed space in his tiny bedroom.  With the new bed and room change I have a ton of new ideas in mind for his room; to take it from baby room to big boy room.  So before we get much further, here is a quick reminder of the old room...

And, now onto the current room state.  His new bed takes up a lot more space, it was actually his g-pa's bed, which was also my bed as a child.  I love that he is now using it too.  Its crazy how different a wall color can look at certain times of the day.

We moved a lot of things out - like his train table and other larger toys.  And, we have this awesome window treatment to shade out the sun - its called a fleece blanket.  It really is all the rage.

So, curtains and blinds are definitely on our list of items needed for his room.  I hope to bring in some fun artwork, hopefully a map and definitely add some sort of dinosaur element to his new space.  He obviously loves animals so that has to play out in his new big boy room.

This dresser needs an update as well and I would love to add some shelving storage above it and solve the crazy looking arrangement we have currently.
Which leads me to the next item of business, toy storage solutions.  We are still trying to work out a toy plan between his room and the playroom but I'm thinking he needs some sort of actual toy storage rather than random bins and boxes.

We are also thinking through a new wall color.  I put some swatches up to let Silas clue me in on what he likes.   Of course in typical boy fashion, he said all of them (which is equivalent to I don't care mom) -which was no help at all.  He did however narrow down our search to these four from a larger selection.  I believe color had nothing to do with it, the names are what spoke to him.  Color names like fossil, koala bear, squirrel, and schoolhouse slate.  He knows how to choose them.  Honestly, schoolhouse slate is a pretty great color so we are leaning that way but I'm still not sold.  Here is a slightly better idea..

He did let me know however that he likes blue, green, orange and yellow.  So if I can work all of those in I think that would be fun.

So for fun and inspiration I thought I would put together a little mood board for what I'm thinking for his new room.  Its really just a rough idea, but kind of the direction I'm headed for.

6. Wall Color - I'm thinking SchoolHouse by Martha Stuart
10. West E lm Rug - I really want this

This will be a slow process I'm sure, but at least the process as begun.  I can't wait to see how his room slowly comes together.

Hope you guys have a great day and are staying warm!!

Pretty Organized Drawers: Inspiration

I think its time for some inspiration and motivation.  Yesterday I shared with you our tucked away clutter abounding chaos thats hidden away in our drawers and cabinets. Now its time to get our behinds in gear and conquer that clutter.  Organized spaces can not only be functional but also pretty too.  I love looking at pretty organized office spaces or a fun, pretty and functional cabinet or pantry. So here are a few pretty, functional and organized drawers to help propel us into action and give us some ideas.

Up first is an organized drawer from Pretty Planning.  I love her post about office organizing and her office space is super pretty! She shares all of her sources too, which I love.

Next is a colorful pretty drawer found on BHG.  I love the simple labels and pretty paper. You can a find the printable's for both labels from the link.

You can't talk about organizing without mentioning I Heart Organizing.  I.love.her.blog.  Really, if you haven't checked it out - go do it now!  She is the queen of making things not only organized and functional but beautiful too!  I love her entryway drawer below.  So many great tips and ideas here!

This last one if from Apartment Therapy.  Its so simple and pretty to me.  How wonderful would it be to open up this drawer and find exactly what you need?  I can't even imagine.

So I don't know about you guys, but I'm feeling really inspired now.  I'm off to go purge and organize some more!  Hope you guys have a great weekend!

PS- I know these blogs would love for you to pin their great photos, just make sure you pin from their site and not mine!

Pumpkin Inspiration

Wait, is it October already?  I'm feeling a little out of the loop and I'm ready to get a little crafty with the new change in season and all.  I really love this time of year and one of my favorite things about the fall is pumpkins.  I love a good ole traditional orange pumpkin but I'm also loving all of the new creative things I've been seeing as well.  Here's a little pumpkin inspiration to get you and me into that fall feeling.

I love these fabric decoupaged pumpkins from Tatertots and Jello, who doesn't love a good chevron?

So simple and sweet, I love the country feel of this from Craftberry Bush.

Thistlewood Farm is one of my favorite blogs to check out, her house is like a magazine cover and I love her painted state pumpkin!

Whipperberry created these really fun pumpkins with paper and wire - I love this! This could totally been done with scraps, which equals spending no money - you know I love that.

These are another paper pumpkin craft from BHG, really simple and I love the colors.

I'm loving all of the metallic spray painted pumpkins on pinterest - these are some of my faves from Real Simple.

Are you inspired?  I think I am.  Now off to figure out a little pumpkin project....

Thanks for stopping by today!  Tomorrow we have a Share Your Story coming your way to check back!

Paint Inspiration - Exterior

One of the first things we'd like to do in our new home is paint the exterior.  Since we have known that the house was ours I have been collecting paint swatches like a mad woman trying to determine which shade I like the best.  We are leaning towards a sage green - more gray than green, but we will see.  Here are few inspiration homes I have found while searching for the perfect color:

I have been obsessed with having a wooden front door until I saw this, I'm kind of loving this!

I'm loving this gray/green color, look out for more posts on what we choose and how we diy paint our house, should be interesting!
