There's a Paint Party Going On

We are actually starting to work on things again, imagine that.   We have had a great summer and have experienced so many awesome things together and also with our students; but around this time of year we can't wait to get back to more of a routine (well, what we call a routine).  We are gearing up for a lot of new beginnings - like the start of a new school year, which means a new youth year for us and the start of all sorts of new projects.  Painting has been on the forefront of our minds as we have so many outstanding paint projects including: rooms, pieces of furniture, decor items and even the house exterior.  We have already started sneaking in a paint job here and there and have a few things to start sharing with you starting tomorrow.  Here's a little glimpse of what to expect:

A few paint colors that just might be making an appearance in our house....

An old mirror is getting a new life.

This little secretary desk was given to me by my husbands sweet Aunt who found it at a yard sale for a few bucks.  I love this little desk and can't wait to show you what it looks like now.

If you look really close in this next picture you can see a blotch of greigey paint I started way back when we first moved in - but then went on to work on other things in the meantime.  Yes, we have lived with a blotchy painted hallway for 5 months and I venture to guess that hardly no one has noticed that has been over (but then again maybe everyone is just really nice and hasn't mentioned it).  But, this little hallway is painted and ready for some attention.  Should be good.

We have finally started giving our little quasi storage center but actual spare bedroom some love.  This little room has gone through one of the slowest processes but I have big dreams for her.  Here's a little trip down memory lane:

The day we moved in = blank canvas

One week after we have moved in = craziness

A month after = a little less crazy? we can actually walk through the room.

5 months later = we actually have everything put away but it's in dire need of some help

Here's the other side of the room or the gallery wall for closet doors.  I can't just paint them white and be done with it, so these doors have another thing coming.

And finally this.  Don't ask me why I ended this post with this item, I just did.  What is it?  You'll just have to come back later to see.  Don't laugh you know you want to know.

So I was serious when I said we were having a painting party and this is just the beginning.  We can't wait to start sharing out little remodeling experiences with you again.  Hope everyone has had a wonderful and meaningful summer!

Prep Time

There is a lot going over at our new place!  Boxes are starting to make their way over, paint is getting put on walls and cabinets!  It's been very exciting.  We are busy, busy, busy preparing for the big move this week.  Later this week I will have up a little house tour of what our house was like the day we bought it, it has already begun changing from paint and such so be watching for that!  Also, one of the big things we are working on is painting the kitchen -aka the paint guzzler- so I will be putting up some pics from that too!  I am so thankful for all our wonderful friends who have pitched in and helped in so many different ways from painting all day to watching Silas to running errands - we value all of your friendships.  Also I am very thankful for my wonderful mom who has diligently watched Silas all weekend so I could work on the painting and things.  She is the bomb and a great Nana.  Things are moving along and we can't wait to share them with you!

Paint Inspiration - Exterior

One of the first things we'd like to do in our new home is paint the exterior.  Since we have known that the house was ours I have been collecting paint swatches like a mad woman trying to determine which shade I like the best.  We are leaning towards a sage green - more gray than green, but we will see.  Here are few inspiration homes I have found while searching for the perfect color:

I have been obsessed with having a wooden front door until I saw this, I'm kind of loving this!

I'm loving this gray/green color, look out for more posts on what we choose and how we diy paint our house, should be interesting!
